Reloading Ritual

Posted on August 8, 2018 at 1:05 PM

In South Carolina we only really have 2 seasons, Really Hot and Cold between that there is a few weeks of really amazing outside weather.

In the hot months we generally shoot pistol and will go to the range a few times on nicer days, but most of the time is spent in the water or in some form of cooling enviornment with 100% humidity our summers are nasty.

Deer season for us opens in August and Runs to Jan 1.  As soon as the tags come in the mail we start to do a few things:

Re-Pack the Hunting Bag

Inventory the Ammo

Hit the range to sight in the Rifle as if a ghost had changed it from the pas season :)

Then we spend the next few months chasing SC Deer which range from about 90-150# consider then like dogs with long legs.  We run 300 blackout and 110g Barnes, our friends run everything from blackout to 27-, 30-30, 308 and the occassional 30-06.   If we are lucky enohg to get one or two thats great and by then the Christmas season is on us and loading takes a back seat.

It seems everyone on the planet loads rifle in the winter time. That is when we see the most brass go out, and that is when I enjoy sitting in the reloading room going over the calibers and the years dreams in my head.

Most of my loading is done in the cool weather.

What is your ritual?
